Get to know Merrisa & Nick


You can probably find them at home, comfortable on the couch with their girls, watching a crime documentary, and playing their switches. It wasn't always like that though. They've slowed down over the twenty years they've been together and have seen just about all walks of life.


When Merrisa & Nick met, Merrisa was a freshmen in high school playing soccer, competing in the marching band, taking honors classes, attending student council meetings, working a job, and juggling her friends and boyfriend. She looks back at that time and truly wonders where the hell she got the hours in the day to do it all. Nick was a junior, played in a metal band, and loved documenting the chaos that surrounded him and his friends.


Once Merrisa graduated, they moved to Boston so Merrisa could attend college. That's where Nick started a new band, and his career path of documenting musicians. After college, they moved back to the Cape where they found their love for travel. Merrisa started a YouTube channel called I Just Want To Travel (it should still be up) documenting the places they've been to, a day/week in the life, music festivals, and behind the scenes shooting weddings. That lifestyle was put on hold though in 2023 when they bought Nicks childhood home; something they thought they'd never do because of the never ending increasing housing market that followed the pandemic. After a year long renovation, they're house poor now but enjoying the slower pace that comes with.


They don't know what the future holds. They've always took it year by year and just enjoy doing life together.

I started photography my last semester of my senior year of high school. Ready to go to college for meteorology (I am obsessed with the weather), this photography class changed the trajectory of my life. Knowing very little about photography, I started college classes in 2009 studying this new found passion of mine. Four years later, I graduated cum laude with my bachelors of science degree in photography. Unfortunately after I graduated I was so lost with no clue how to start a business that could support me and my family that I didn't pick up my camera. It took four years before I started my full time career in December 2017.

I was fourteen years old when my mother got me a camcorder. Back in '03, I would film my friend's bands at local shows. In '05, I managed to put together live footage for a band that I followed and edit a music video for them. This was before camcorders used SD cards, so everything I filmed was on tape. Twenty years later, everything is so different, and I'm still so motivated that I spend most days shooting artists or editing.


I joined Merrisa in the wedding industry in 2016 filming weddings and second shooting. Creativity comes in all forms. Challenging yourself only makes yourself a better creator.

It all started when I was 6…


My mother had a Pentax A3000 and it was left unattended one late afternoon during a family vacation on Cape Cod. I would love to say that I picked up that camera off the center nightstand, between the two queen beds with shiny vintage patterns, and created beautiful work at age 6 like a little prodigy paparazzo. That I miraculously understood the inner workings of that 35mm and focused it just right on my mother putting on her mascara in the bathroom with her sunburnt shoulders. But unfortunately Pentax didn’t complete a thorough drop test on the A3000 model. My poor mother’s only camera.


I am obsessed with holding onto memories. In 2010 I held my very first Nikon. I went off to Art School in Boston to obtain my Bachelor of Science Degree in Photography and never looked back. After dipping my toes in all different subjects, I found I was most interested in Lifestyle work. My husband, son and rescue pup  are my greatest muses and the subjects of my personal storytelling.

We go into every wedding, elopement, and session with the intent to document what's happening in its most authentic form.



Ever wonder why it's so captivating to look through what seems like endless photos from your childhood? Back in the 90's, even early 2,000's, every photo that was taken was intentional. Meant to freeze that moment/emotion in time to look back at decades later. You couldn't check to see if it was blurry, or if eyes were closed. It's exactly as it is. We believe that is what keeps images in their most authentic form. Although we strive to take the best image we can, or film a moment with the eye of a cinematographer, we take pride in the photos or scenes that come in between. The moments that end up not completely in focus, or a scene that's a slight shaky. We simply just want to help tell your story.
